Swine Flu Brings Down Airline Business

Airline business through out the world has taken a hit on Tuesday as the fears of the spreading of swine flu from Mexico. There is a steep fall in the leisure traffic because of this. Industry leaders among the US carriers Delta Air Lines fell down almost 10 percent and the US Airways Group fell 4 percent. The AMR Corp and the Southwest Airlines ended a respective 1 percent and 3.9 percent higher but were not enough to help the AMEX airlines which ended down 2.6 percent. There was concern that swine flu would make customers cancel their travel plans, which made the shares go down in double-digit percentages on Monday but most reports said that travelers are keeping to their current plan. There is still worry about future booking due to the new of spreading of the flu.
